Corpus Christi procession in Castelrotto

Church festivals and customs are particularly cherished in Castelrotto. Corpus Christi has a special place in the church year and in the tradition of the parish of Castelrotto.

The word Corpus Christi is derived from the Middle High German words vrón (divine) and lîchnam (shell, body): it therefore celebrates the incarnation of the body of Jesus in the Eucharist.

On Corpus Christi in Castelrotto, a solemn procession is held through the village after Holy Mass. A host in a monstrance, figures of saints and flags are carried through the village in prayer, accompanied by the band. The Corpus Christi procession takes place on the first Sunday after Whitsun in May or June.
